I was blessed with parents who knew that education was the key to life, and that reading was a big part of that. They didn’t know why, and they weren’t readers themselves. I was given a book every birthday and every Christmas, and it was always an Enid Blyton story. ‘O’ Level English introduced me to a few other writers, but it was my ‘A’ Level teachers who set me off on a life of reading for pleasure. I have spent the last three decades or more passing forward that gift, as a mum, a teacher and a volunteer. I’ve read thousands of books: now I’m taking the chance to share them with you and learn how to blog!

Please keep in touch
I am very grateful to the publishers who send me proof copies of new titles. I promise that they are all read! I work in a 3-18 school, so all books are shared and end up in the hands of young people who will be reading and spreading the word!
I mainly read middle grade and young adult fiction, as well as books for grown ups (historical fiction and crime fiction are some of my favourites, but I am open to all genres). If you would like me to review a specific title, please get in touch via ink.drinker@outlook.com. I link and post to Goodreads, Netgalley and twitter (@_inkdrinker) as well as here.
I read avidly, and I am supported by a great bunch of students who soak up everything I give to them. If you particularly want quotations from students, please let me know when you send me a book and I will do my best to oblige.
